In a way, that's what being a runner is about. Minimizing the resistance.
Some days, running feels harder than others. When there's more hard days than not, we fall out of love with the sport.
So it's a game of minimizing resistance.
Sure, some of it is genetic.
But better biomechanics, nutrition, stress, and sleep are all ways to minimize resistance. Having a training group to share the experience can contribute as well.
Because when it's easier, we love it more. When we love it more, we do it more, think about it more, and take pride in it more. That leads to tolerating - perhaps embracing - the most challenging parts.
And that's how we get better.
