Most of the time I open my phone or laptop, I consume.
It isn't necessarily intentional. Both devices are set up to grab attention.
A text to respond to.
A story to read.
A Twitter feed to scroll.
A voicemail to listen to.
An Instagram notification to check.
These devices want our attention. The apps we use literally profit from it.
I started to feel like I was constantly playing defense, outsourcing my emotions to whatever notification or personalized news feed item was pushed my way.
Part of the motivation for starting a regular blog was to flip the script, and play a little offense.
Instead of strictly absorbing everything that world wants me to look at, I'm offering something to the world.
I've long been a consumer on these kinds of platforms.
It was about time to start producing.
